ScentCompare has no accounts, no sign-up, no forms that ask who you are, and sets no cookies. We never take payment and never see your order.

What we record

To know which pages and offers are useful, the page sends a small anonymous event to our own server: a page or product was viewed, an offer came into view, a seller link was clicked, a search or filter was used, the delivery country was changed, an item was added to your comparison or saved list. Each event records only what it is about — the page, the product, the merchant and offer, the placement on the page, the search words or filter chosen, and the domain of the site that linked you here — with a time and an anonymous random click identifier. Each event is also marked as a browser, a crawler or our own testing, judged from the browser's user-agent at that moment; the user-agent itself is not stored. It records no name, no email, no IP address and no device identifier, and nothing that links one visit to another.

These records are kept in our own database on our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and are used only to improve the site and to reconcile affiliate reports.

What stays in your browser

Your chosen delivery country, your comparison list and your saved items are kept in your browser's local storage so they are still there next time. They are never sent to us, and clearing your browser's site data removes them.

Third parties

The site loads nothing from any other company: no analytics service, no advertising script, no social widget, and the typefaces are served from our own domain. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your connection to deliver the pages, as any web host must.

When you follow a link to a merchant, you leave ScentCompare. The merchant's own privacy policy applies from then on, and where a merchant has approved us as an affiliate, its affiliate network may set its own cookie on the merchant's site so that the sale can be attributed.
